Wigan starlet Harrison Rimmer has produced a truly hilarious celebration after scoring the first goal at Everton’s new Stadium.
The Toffees are set to move into their new stadium at the Bramley-Moore Dock site next season.
Construction of the new state-of-the-art ground began in the summer of 2021.
The site was chosen following years of planning and consultation and has since become a major catalyst for growth in the area.
The project’s impact extends beyond football, as it aims to revitalize a previously underutilized part of the city, attracting millions of visitors and contributing significantly to the local economy.
The stadium itself is designed to offer a world-class experience for fans and players alike?
With a proposed capacity of 52,888, it features a bowl design constructed of steel and glass inspired by the architectural elegance of modern football venues.
The plan is that Everton will begin playing in their new Bramley-Moore Dock home at the start of the 2025/26 season, after a series of tests following a series of test events to ensure a smooth transition.
The first of such test event was held on Monday, with the Everton U18s facing the Wigan Athletic U18s with a crowd of 10,000 in attendance.
Wigan star with hilarious celebration at new Everton stadium
Everton’s U18 suffered a 2-1 loss in the game, with Wigan Athletic’s Harrison Rimmer scoring the first goal of the night and the first-ever goal in the stadium.
Rimmer struck for Wigan with just over 11 minutes on the clock and headed to celebrate in front of the fans.
As he wheeled off in celebration, the midfielder was spotted flashing six fingers to the Everton fans, symbolising the six European Cups won by the Toffees’ fierce rivals Liverpool.
Ironically, the Wigan teenager is a Liverpool supporter and was keen to mock Merseyside rivals Everton on what was a historic day for the club.
His strike means he is the first player to score a goal at the new stadium, which will be a moment the youngster surely remembers for the first of his life.
